West Lethbridge Weather started in 2007 with one goal: to show what the weather is actually doing on the west side of the river, not just at the airport southeast of the city.
Nearly 20 years later, the station is still running around the clock, recording temperature, wind, gusts, rain, humidity and pressure, and sharing it all here for free. In 2012 we added the Whoop-Up Drive camera, so you can see the road and the sky before you head across the river.
Why a local station matters
- The airport sits on open prairie. West Lethbridge has the coulees, the river valley and different exposure to the wind, so the numbers can be quite different.
- Chinooks, Arctic pushes and storms often show up here at slightly different times than the official reading suggests.
- Nearly two decades of local records give a real picture of how weather behaves on this side of the city.
