Pick your road and what you're driving. The checker works out how hard the wind is pushing sideways on you, and whether it's a day to take the trailer out.
How it works. Wind is split into the part pushing you sideways and the part blowing along the road. Gusts are what tip trailers and push you across the lane, so the rating uses the sideways part of the gust. Road directions are approximate.
The limits are rules of thumb, not official limits. Empty trailers, high-sided campers and light loads are worse than these numbers suggest. Before a long trip, check 511 Alberta for highway wind warnings.
Once this tool is on westlethbridgeweather.com, it fills in the station's live wind automatically.
